What is a Chain Link Fence?
By ProMatcher Staff
Chain Link Fence Installation
A chain link fence is a woven fence made from galvanized or vinyl-coated steel. Vertical metal wires are bent and then intertwined in a “zig-zag” fashion. The result of the wires being weaved together creates a diamond-like pattern. The wires are knuckled at the top to make sure there are no exposed sharp edges.

Chain Link Fence Posts
The fence fabric is attached to a number of set posts and pulled stretched tight. Terminal posts, which are typically anchored with concrete, are installed at corners, ends, and gate entrances. Chain link fence posts can be made of plastic, steel, or wood.
Fence Features
Chain link fences are very affordable and the installation process is very quick. These fences are more practical than stylish. However, the vinyl-coated steel offers a sleeker look than the more industrial, galvanized steel fences. If privacy is a concern, privacy slats can be added to the fence to provide some additional coverage.
